A warranty must have the backing of a stable company
to be worthwhile. There are three things you should consider about
warranties:
-
On labor: has the
prospective contractor been in business long enough to support
their labor warranty?
-
On products: has the
manufacturer of the product been in business long enough to
support their warranty? Will the manufacturer blame the
installer for any problems?
-
On follow-through:
does the contractor have the leverage to enforce the
manufacturer's warranty when product failure is questionable?
Who will pay the labor to replace the product?

Hartwell Exterior Labor Warranty
We offer a seven-year labor warranty on all
residential projects. It is as simple as that! If we did it wrong, we
will correct it.
Federal and State regulations add their share of protection, but the
proof is in the pudding. For 40 years we have honored our workmanship
even beyond our promise. If your request is beyond the warranty
period, we may require a small fee to cover some of our costs.
At Hartwell Exteriors, our goal is to be hired for your next
project or the project your neighbor or co-worker is talking about.
Referral business makes up a large percentage of our new customers and
successful referrals depend upon satisfied, happy customers.

Hartwell Exteriors Manufacturer's
Warranties
General Terms
In general, Lifetime Product Warranties are offered
by most of our “preferred” manufacturers. The primary exception is
most asphalt roofing materials. They have limited, prorated
warranties.
Some general exclusions you should be aware of are as follows:
-
Almost no one covers acts of God, vandalism,
casualty, abuse, or defects caused by faulty installation. Limits are
almost always placed on painted or plated products and mechanical
parts. In most cases, manufacturers supply the replacement parts not
the labor to replace them. Defects are usually defined as flaws that
impair the utility of the product.
-
Transferability is a common feature. Notice must be
given to the manufacturer within a short period after the title
transfer of a home. Some manufacturers require a fee to record the
transfer.

On Follow-Through
What if the manufacturer denies responsibility? In
cases such as these, whether the project involves new windows, vinyl
replacement windows, doors, or vinyl siding installation, we at
Hartwell Exteriors use our leverage to support our customers!
This is where you need a strong contractor. Either the contractor
fesses up and admits fault or leans on the manufacturer to accept
responsibility. As you can imagine, there are often gray areas
relating to “Manufacturer Defects” where leverage is needed to make
certain the responsibility is shared or accepted so that the homeowner
is taken care of properly.
Because of the quantities we purchase and the long-term relationships
we have with our suppliers, Hartwell Exteriors can boast
substantial leverage in helping you resolve any problems.
Many suppliers would like us to purchase from them.
We very seldom change suppliers. When you have something good why
change? We are known to pay our bills in a timely fashion and handle
their products properly. This reputation is important to us, just as
the most important criteria for us regarding any of our suppliers is
their reputation for honesty. There is no price low enough for us to
compromise quality.
